My name is Jason Forman and I am studying to be an adult educator. I have had an interesting journey thus far as a software consultant and also as a photographer. I decided that for the next phase of my life, I wanted to focus on helping people and after much reflection, I felt that becoming an educator was a good fit for my personal and professional goals.

I have mostly been in a consulting role throughout my career, but I also had the opportunity to work in a Learning and Development department for two years. I found this experience very satisfying; I enjoyed the work and had successes in that role, but I did not have any formal education in training or instruction. I felt like I was missing the theoretical and best practice context. I began thinking about how learning the underlying theories would be very interesting, and then in turn, how to apply those theories to become a better practitioner.

The more I thought about it, the more it was something I wanted to pursue, which is why I am enrolled in the Adult Education and Training master’s program at Colorado State University.
